Derrick Smith is a financial services specialist at Center for Implementation and Evaluation of Education Systems (CIEES). He brings over a decade of experience in financial operations, financial compliance, and organizational administration, with a background that includes managing budget processes, ensuring regulatory adherence, and supporting streamlined operational workflows. Prior to joining CIEES, Derrick served 11 years in the United States Navy as a personnel specialist, completing two tours aboard the USS Harry S. Truman and a tour stationed in Rota, Spain. Derrick holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management from the University of Maryland Global Campus and is currently pursuing dual master’s degrees in Cybersecurity Management & Policy and Business Administration. His professional interests include financial compliance, operational efficiency, and the integration of cybersecurity risk management within organizational operations.
